LavaMama Lava Shell Pregnancy Treatment

Mum’s the word!  Here at Shared Beauty Secrets we’ve been keeping something “under wraps” but we are now ready to announce the latest addition to the “Lava Shell Family” – a beautifully nurturing mum-to-be treatment, LavaMama Pregnancy Massage. It is already creating a buzz amongst healthcare professionals and expectant mums alike and we can’t wait to share details of our latest Beauty Secret with you!

Clare Anderson, Managing Director of Shared Beauty Secrets has said:

We are thrilled to unveil our latest beauty treatment LavaMama and we are confident it will be the treatment of choice for pregnant mums everywhere!  Until now the high heat from our Lava Shells would have been contra-indicated for use during pregnancy; however we have carefully developed these bespoke ante-natal and post-natal treatments using our most gentle heat, counter-balanced with cool shells to maintain the client’s core temperature without any risks of over-heating, whilst still delivering a deeply relaxing and effective treatment.  Our mum’s-to-be will be treated by fully qualified therapists, supported throughout their treatment using the highly acclaimed Comfy Client Cushion™ which is endorsed by healthcare professionals and favoured by the NHS. Mum’s can rest assured that they are in very safe hands.

We have been working with Jaki Bourne, Holistic Therapist and Pregnancy Massage Practitioner to devise this hot-off-the-press new treatment.

This is what Jaki has to say about pregnancy massage:

As a mum myself, I believe that pregnancy is one of the most life-changing and life-enriching experiences.  Pregnancy itself can be a thrilling, exhausting, exciting, un-nerving, topsy-turvy mix of emotions and physical changes.  I believe that mum’s-to-be should be afforded the most positive experience by accessing a range of supportive services.  I am thrilled to be a part of the #TeamLavaShells developing this new professional treatment and working with mum’s-to-be during their amazing and very personal journey into motherhood

Lava Shells LavaMama Pregnancy Massage is an ingenious treatment which creates a blissful combination of relaxation and stimulation to ease away aches and pains particularly focussing on the back, hips and legs as the pregnancy progresses. The treatment also aims to improve energy levels, assisting circulation and alleviating puffiness and fluid build-up particularly in the legs and ankles.  The clever combination of gentle but effective warmth and cold assists with pain relief and reduces muscle spasm in over-worked muscles. This specially developed massage effectively supports the mum-to-be throughout the crucial stages of her pregnancy and the miraculous changes to her body.

LavaMama Pregnancy massage has many benefits including a positive impact on the reduction of emotional stress, which makes for a happy pregnancy; it is also known to improve back, pelvic pain and inflammation which can be secondary to a change in posture. It reduces tension, fatigue and headaches and can assist sleep.  LavaMama Pregnancy Massage is suitable from the second trimester and during the post-natal period. This improves the sense of wellbeing and brings much needed nutrients to the hard working muscles and organs, muscle tone and tissue quality are improved which helps to relax and rejuvenate the mum-to-be at a very special time in her life.

During this nurturing treatment the mum-to-be will be positioned comfortably and safely on the treatment couch with the use of the cleverly designed Comfy Client™ cushion, a series of interlocking cushions designed to cocoon the body and support the growing bump, whilst ensuring blood flow is maintained throughout.  We use our newly launched Pure Coconut Body Oil, a real tropical treat from the palm fringed beaches of the Philippines, which in its purest form is simply sensational!

This natural oil offers maximum hydration, long lasting nourishment and protection and is the ultimate indulgence for the skin, suitable for even the most hypersensitive skins and, most importantly is safe to use in pregnancy:  .

This makes it a safe solution for preventing and combatting dryness, can help to prevent stretch marks and is so safe it can be used during pregnancy when many other choices are limited.

SBS_BABYShowA1b image copy smlTo carry out a full body LavaMama Relax treatment the therapist uses two heated Lava shells and one glacial (cold) shell.  Once the Pure Coconut Body Oil has been applied the shells glide over the body, a seamless massage of gentle-but-effective heat and touch, balanced by the addition of our sublime glacial shells – great for boosting the circulation and reducing the feeling of heaviness and puffiness often accompanying pregnancy.  Particular attention is paid to the back, hips and legs as these supports the increasing weight of the growing baby and can give rise to troublesome symptoms.  A full body LavaMama massage includes back, hips, legs, feet, bump, arms and hands, finishing with a soothing scalp massage and can be tailored to provide a bespoke treatment for each individual client.

There will be a trio of treats in the Pregnancy and Post Natal range: LavaMama Relax a wonderfully soothing 60 minute relaxing full body massage to promote a feeling of wellness and serenity, aid sleep and reduce everyday stresses.  There is also LavaMama Rescue, designed to target the more troublesome areas such as the back, hips and legs in a shorter 30 minute treatment. Finally to compliment the range of pre-natal treatments there is LavaMama Recovery which is a beautiful post-natal treatment, designed to get you feeling like you again!

Lava Shells LavaMama Pregnancy Massage will quickly become the treatment of choice for all expectant mums – not only are the shells beautiful in appearance, their silky smoothness glides over the skin to give the most luxurious touch and they are non-porous so there are no concerns regarding hygiene.  All of this in addition to the deeply relaxing warmth of the tropics combined with a refreshing glacial coolness certainly puts the “treat” in treatment!
